In town for Memorial Weekend for a race at Watkins Glen - The local was perfect to get some sleep and warm shower before heading back to the track. Stayed in a bunk room bed, mattresses where very comfortable. Emily and Ian where very accommodating and gracious. Beatrice and Emme had a great greeting upon entering and was welcomed us into their place. Thanks!

I stayed at The Local over this weekend and was sad to leave!! The owners, Ian and Emily, are absolutely amazing. They are some of the warmest and hospitable people I’ve ever met. Coming from the Philadelphia area, I can be quiet picky and bougie in my personal taste, but The Local exceeded every single expectation. Everything was SO clean! The memory foam mattress was a dream and the microfiber sheets certainly kept me cozy during the snowy nights. To add to the already warm atmosphere, The Local is also home to two of the sweetest dogs - Emme and Beatrix. They are very well behaved, but love with all they have. :) Thank you so much, Ian and Emily! I’m so looking forward to my next trip!!

We love The Local Hostel! Sometimes when I'm in town on business I like to stay in one of several available bunk rooms. Last week we stayed in one of the private rooms, which was also great. There is free internet service, knowledgeable, friendly staff, even two cute dogs to visit with in the kitchen or den if you want to. The rooms and bathrooms are neat and clean, with simple and lovely furnishings. We like to recommend these unique accommodations and very reasonable rates, right near the State Park in Watkins Glen.

Stayed in a bunk room in December. Great way to see the local area, especially in the off season. Beds are incredibly comfortable! Would take the mattress home if I could. Bathrooms and kitchen are extremely clean and accessible. Only facility piece lacking is a more robust common area. This wasn't an impact as we were out and about exploring the whole time. Hosts are very welcoming and quick with communication. 10/10 would recommend. Will return next time I am in the area. Awesome overall experience!

I've been going to Watkins Glen about three times per year for the past six years and have always struggled to find a clean, convenient and affordable place to stay....until i stumbled across The Local a few years back. Emily and Ian take pride in this place and it shows. They have always accommodated our group even when we had to check in at strange hours. The beds are very comfortable and everything, especially the bathrooms, are super clean. There is no other place I stay when visiting Watkins Glen.

We stayed at the Cottage and we loved it..The traffic was a little noisy at night so bring ear plugs but other than that it was a great choice! Emily is wonderful she helped us with all our questions and even recommended a few places .The Cottage is located about a block away from the entrance from the gorge trail which means you don't have to pay for parking. Everyone is very friendly! They are actually willing to stand and talk for a bit . Everything is Beautiful here! I highly recommend staying at The Local!! We will be back and we will be sending our friends to stay here as well. I don't think I have ever smiled so much. Book the Cottage you will not regret it.
